Provider Liaison

The Provider Liaison functions as a support person in the coordination and organization of administrative processes for assigned providers. The primary focus of this role includes assisting with documentation, orders, and scheduling at the direction of a physician or non-physician practitioner (NPP)  as well as serving as the primary contact for the nursing homes for all assigned providers. Demonstrates age specific and cultural sensitivity towards internal and external customers. This position is distinguished from other administrative support classes in that the position provides highly sensitive support to designated providers. All duties are to be done in accordance with Joint Commission, Federal and State regulations, Oceans' Mission, policies and procedures and QAPI Standards.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. The Provider Liaison is responsible for providing consistent and timely support to all assigned providers and for managing the administrative, scheduling, documentation, communication, and coordination responsibilities associated with the role. 
  2. Prepare provider schedules and ensure patient notes are available for charting prior to provider rounding.
  3. When required submit prior authorization requests to third party payers.
  4. Serve as the primary telephone contact for assigned nursing home facilities regarding scheduling and administrative coordination.
  5. Coordinate PEC and GDR documentation for assigned providers.
  6. Maintaining professional working relationships with providers, facility leadership, and facility staff
  7. When required the Provider Liaison shall conduct -site visits to support professional relationship development, facility communication, operational awareness, and coordination with facility partners. All off-site activity must not interfere with the timely completion of required administrative and provider-support responsibilities.
  8. Participate in Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Activities as assigned.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Educational / Experience Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing preferred.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in state of practice.
  • At least one year of experience in an acute medical surgical setting and/or an acute psychiatric setting.
  • In lieu of licensure, a minimum of six years’ experience in a similar role is required.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Must be able to read and to write. Computer literacy, strong verbal, and written skills.
  • Must be well organized, flexible, and responsible.
  • Must be able to communicate knowledge in an educational arena.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Must be able to work tactfully and cooperatively with a variety of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, think globally, and simultaneously manage multiple details.

Work Environment:

Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high paced and stressful; must be able to cope mentally and physically to the atmosphere. Work requires spending approximately 90% or more of the time inside a building that offers protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
