The Regional Director, Business Development is responsible for driving strategic growth, marketing, and business development initiatives for all hospital service lines within an assigned state. This role partners with CEOs and senior leadership at each facility in the state to optimize service line performance, expand market presence, and support new service line development. Unlike other regional roles covering multiple states, this position focuses on a single state, allowing for deeper engagement with local CEOs, referral sources, and community stakeholders.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Partner with CEOs and senior leadership in the state to design and implement marketing and business development strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  2. Conduct market analysis and identify growth opportunities for current and future hospital service lines within the assigned state.
  3. Develop and manage state-level business development plans, including service expansion and partnership opportunities.'
  4. Support financial performance of outpatient and inpatient services, including budgeting, revenue enhancement, and resource optimization.
  5. Build and maintain key referral relationships and community partnerships to drive patient volume and organizational growth.
  6. Monitor patient, referral source, and community satisfaction to inform business development strategies.
  7. Provide guidance, training, and support to the state’s business development team, including Clinical Nurse Liaisons, to ensure service excellence.
  8. Oversee project management of business development initiatives, ensuring timely execution of strategic goals.
  9. Maintain awareness of industry trends, market changes, and competitive landscape to inform growth strategies.
  10. Conduct analyses, including SWOT, referral tracking, and opportunity assessments, to support data-driven decision-making.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, business administration or related behavioral health area, or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) year experience in a health care business development management position with extensive business development experience resulting in measurable results.

Skills / Abilities:

  • Knowledge of hospital operations and psychiatric programs preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills to be able to plan, assess, communicate and develop employee performance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to interpret data and develop initiatives based on interpretation of data.
  • Ability to plan ahead, and to prioritize and coordinate activities, services, schedules or programs.
  • Ability to support and effectively collaborate with other departments to achieve results.
  • Ability to communicate in age/disability/cultural sensitivity manner to patients, patient’s families, and referral sources.

Work Environment:

Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high paced and stressful; must be able to cope mentally and physically to atmosphere. This person might sometimes experience disagreeable odors, sights and/or unpredictable patient behavior.
