Engineer, IT Field Support
The Engineer, IT Field Support ensures the smooth operation of company technology systems, providing hands-on technical support, problem resolution, and proactive service to end users. This role plays a key part in maintaining system reliability, supporting business continuity, and enabling employees to work efficiently with minimal disruption.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare, configure, and deploy hardware, software, and network equipment for new facilities and acquisitions in accordance with company standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently, applying judgment and problem-solving skills to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
- Collaborate with team members, end users, and stakeholders to communicate technical information, identify underlying issues, and implement practical solutions.
- Document all infrastructure changes, configurations, and technical information accurately for reference and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in on-call rotations as needed to support continuous operations and rapid issue resolution.
- Support IT initiatives related to new setups, acquisitions, and facility expansions, including coordinating logistics and resources for smooth implementation.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business continuity and technology operations.
Requirements
Educational / Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on IT support experience, preferably in a field or on-site support role.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware, networking, and basic server issues in enterprise or multi-site environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work semi-autonomously and independently manage tasks on-site.
- Experience documenting technical issues and infrastructure changes accurately.
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent) are preferred but not required.
Qualifications / Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, network, and basic server issues.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple on-site tasks effectively.
- Ability to follow company processes and standards for hardware setup and IT service delivery.
- Proactive approach to identifying problems and proposing practical solutions.
- Comfortable with occasional on-call responsibilities and flexible scheduling as needed.
Work Environment:
Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high paced and stressful; must be able to cope mentally and physically to atmosphere. Work requires spending approximately 90% or more of the time inside a building that offers protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
